Bo and Carrie and LOST

Ok. I admit that I happen to know a good friend who knows Carrie. I told my friend that while Carrie was very talented, I was firmly a Bo person. My friend, being a true friend, did not gloat this morning. Actually though, neither lost. They'll both get contracts. And you wanna know the stunner? I didn't even watch the finale.

Why????

Finale of LOST. Boone's still dead, the black rock is a galleon, dynomite can sweat, Sayid's still hot, Charlie's weak, Locke's nuts (or is he?), and Hurley rocks. Not to mention Aaron finally gets a name and Walt is taken by the mysterious "Others". And was that a teenage girl on the boat that threw the explosive device onto the raft? Could that be the missing Alex? Did French Chick try to rescue Claire from the others and get attacked by mistake, or had she been after the baby the entire time? Gate 23. $23,000. Hurley's 23. I'll have to watch it again to see if there are any more references to that number. Yes I taped it. Yes I watched it instead of American Idol. What can I say? Viva la Lost!

And also, a special SHOUT OUT to my Secret Pal from the knitty web board. She sent me a marvelous box full of goodies. I received 2 skeins of Cascade 220 in spring green - the EXACT same shade as I bought myself a few months ago. Only, I'd been kicking myself I hadn't bought more of it, now it's moot because my secret pal ROCKS! I also got some really cute stitch markers, to be used soon I'm sure. And she (I think a she) sent me a book, THE KNITTERS ALMANAC. This is so much fun! In case she's reading this, pictures will be up as soon as I can! And have a great vacation!

Anyway, gotta run!

Cookie Wreath!

UPDATE: Grandmother decided to have the surgery to pin her broken wrist. Then they did a bone density test, and she has none. Pins won't work, they'd have to plate her. Which requires at least an hour longer under anesthesia. And the bones are weakened so much it probably wouldn't work. So she and her doctor decided not to have the surgery. The wrist still looks bad, but scans show that it's already started to heal a little.

She loved the green plant I sent her for her 95th birthday. But my baby brother and his wife sent her a COOKIE WREATH! I've never heard of such! I want one! Cookies! That is so cool.

UPDATE #2: After working 9 days straight and looking forward to having Thursday off followed by Saturday and Sunday off .... well, late Wednesday my boss asks me if I mind working a 1/2 day Friday and coming in on Saturday. I already had plans to work at Habitat for Humanity on Saturday morning. *sigh*

So, on my day off Thursday I went to Kelly Services and put in my resume with their medical field division for the state of North Carolina.

Having to work a weekend isn't so bad, but it's getting old. I'm already working every third weekend. Plus, in August I'll be fully vested and with 5 years experience. The job market in my field right now is hot. If I can get something great and close and with a REAL salary bump, I'm gone. I'm not unhappy at work, but let's be realistic. I'm about to turn 39 and am not married, have never been married. Chances are retirement is up to me alone. I have to think about these things now. I'll pray about it, and have been. This seems to be the right path to take. We'll see.

Anyway, have a great day and God Bless!

Lazy Saturday, NOT!

I'm at work when I should be oh so soundly sleeping! I'm working every third weekend and while nothing is wrong with my job, I'm getting restless. I have to wait until August, in order to be fully vested (5 years), but then I may seriously take a look around at the job market. People tell me that now is a good time for my professiong (Occupational Therapy Assistant), but I don't know. We'll see.

Just for fun, here is my sister Suzanne and her true personality ... you have to look closely! Heeee!

Ambush!

BTW, Genie (my grandmother) has decided to have the surgery on her wrist. The doctor wanted to schedule her for Wednesday, but she refused. Wednesday is her 95th birthday and some of her friends are having a luncheon. She'll have the surgery on Thursday. Her will is hard as iron, I just worry about the rest of her.

Later y'all!
God Bless

It's not Monday!

Yep, I couldn't think of a title and, well, the results are silly at best. It's not Monday but I can't really say I'm looking forward to Friday especially, since I have to work the weekend. But I'm not really unhappy about that. I don't like working every third weekend since they changed the schedule around and added more therapists to each Saturday and Sunday. However, the reasons (increased quality of therapy and time involved on individual patients) is a good one.

Anthony is GONE! American Idol has three left - Vonzell, Carrie and Bo. Let's discuss. Vonzell appears sweet and cute as a button. Her talent is undeniable. Carrie is also extremely talented, but appears a bit shy (insider knowledge) and sometimes doesn't seem to "connect" with the audience. Something that experience can deal with though. Then Bo. I confess, he's my favorite! He's really comfortable in front of an audience and it shows, very talented and fun to listen to and watch. Frankly, there's not a bad pick. These three are the ones I chose for my personal top three (no, not Constantine - sorry Mary). Voting just became that much harder, since I really like them all.

p.s. It's not that I didn't like Anthony, I think he's pretty good too - just not up there with the other three.

Okay. Now the bad news. My grandmother fell the other night in her home in Texas and broke her left wrist. The emergency doctor did not recommend surgery since she is 95 years old with a bad heart and fragile kidneys. However, the wrist is misaligned and would not heal straight without surgical intervention. She is not allowed pain medication beyond Tylenol secondary to the other issues. So she will just have to live with the pain and the use of only one good hand. She will have to move in with my Uncle and his new wife.

WRONG!

Genie (she doesn't like being called grandmother) is miffed at the emergency doctor and is going to her doctor and she wants the surgery. Even if she dies on the table, she refuses to be left with only one hand. She nearly kicked my Uncle and Aunt out of her house for suggesting she move. And, her bridge club she is supposed to host today - is still on. Go Genie! I worry about her having surgery, even with a local anesthesia. But it is her decision and incompetent is NOT a word to even be thought of around her. We'll just wait and see what her regular physician has to say. BTW, they renewed her driver's license two weeks ago. Brrr - scary! Not that she'll be driving with that wrist (thank goodness!)

Anyway, gotta run! Have a great day y'all!

Doors with two sides!

Hey!

I'm on my lunch break on my volunteer day with Habitat for Humanity. I was getting happy because of the 14 doors I have to paint today, I've done 7 so far. Then all of a sudden, the crushing realization that doors have two sides, so I'm only a quarter finished, not half. Ah well, it's going faster as I get into a groove.

FABLES, a great comic title is getting really good! My friend Eddie owns his own comic book store and I sometimes get a peek at issues a week before they come out. FABLES rocks! I've gotten my friend Anna to read the first 2 story arcs and she is hooked, hooked I tell you. Almost done with Charlaine Harris' new book, DEAD AS A DOORNAIL. It's terrific as well. Also finally watched THE INCREDIBLES. What fun!

Mother's Day was very nice. Great dinner with my Mom, Step-Dad, and brother. Also planning a really cool trip with my mom next May. Details later!

Have a great day all!
God Bless

Baby, baby!

Here's what I'm currently working on:

Cables and Feathers

I'm out of town right now, vising close friends. They have a new Papa-san chair. I've fallen out of it twice. Ah well.

My friend who had the spleenectomy now has a lovely infection in the wound. She's on a 5 pound lifting limit. Her baby weighs just over 10 pounds. Friends are taking turns spending the days and nights with her to help out with the baby. My night was Thursday. She's leaving to go spend some time with another friend of hers who is a stay at home mother and can be with her all the time. My friend is worried that her husband will miss the baby's first attempts at turning over and reaching for things that interest her. At least she's getting the help she needs and is getting better. She's decided not to ride horses again for several years, and is even looking to sell her 3 year old Clydesdale. He's gorgeous and sweet (and not the horse she was riding when she got hurt).

I'm reading Charlaine Harris' new book "DEAD AS A DOORNAIL" and have already finished Angela Knight's "MASTER OF THE MOON". Knight's book is good, but maybe not as good as her last one. I did enjoy it though, don't get me wrong. Harris' book is the bomb so far. Still looking forward to Evanovich's new one and, of course, Harry Potter!

Anyway, it's late here and I'm very tired. Bed soon.

God Bless!

Knits and Knacks

Hey! As promised, here is a picture of my first gift from my super Secret Pal! I have figured out that she is in North Carolina as well. It wasn't hard, the lapel pin she sent me is handcrafted from NC hardwood. Oh, and the postmark may have said something about North Carolina too. Sorry the picture isn't better, that's not lack of computer skills, that's lack of photography skills. I have to say though, THANK YOU SUPER SECRET PAL!

Thank you SP!
