Welcome Harper Lee (Ann)!!!
Shelby had her baby! Shelby had her baby! They were going to induce her on Tuesday, but she went into labour late Saturday (early Sunday). Twelve hours of labour, but she was able to get the epidural.
Like me, Shelby is fairly literate. We read a lot, but we don't get all high and mighty about reading only "the classics". I love a good, hot, vampire romance novel. (Yea! Feehan, Kenyon, Harris, Bishop, and of course ... Hamilton). But we both think that "To Kill a Mockingbird" is a great book. She wanted to name her daughter, Harper. Well, her in-laws (including her husband who is otherwise a bright guy) think that LeeAnn is a perfect middle name. Her hubby's name is Lee, there are other Lee's in the family and I think mother or grandmother (his side) is a LeeAnn. So all the in-laws decide that Harper LeeAnn is a beautiful name.
When Shelby told me the baby's name-to-be, I heard "Lee" instead of "LeeAnn". Harper Lee (author of above-mentioned classic novel) is a well known name. BUT! Apparently, no one on his side of the family knew who it was????!!!!!
So baby Harper LeeAnn is new to this world and with a true Southern name. Shelby and I just laugh and shake our heads in wonder. The important thing is that everyone is healthy and doing well.
Welcome baby Harper! And be glad you weren't a boy ... Daddy wanted to name you Carter Finley. The same name as the NC State Wolfpack's stadium. In fact, in his most secret of hearts, your name might actually be Carter .....
