Secret Pal 4!!!!!

Hey, this was a huge surprise, but my knitty Secret Pal 4 was .... DELILAH2! Very, very special shout out to the wonderful Delilah2 who really spoiled me this last Secret Pal round. I don't have pictures yet, but hope to soon. But in her last package she sent me a myriad of special goodiness! Most especial of all was the knitting journal that she put together herself, just for me! I love it. Can't wait to put it to use. There were all sorts of goodies, the Udderly Soft cream got opened right away. There were point protectors (always in need!) and a row counter, nail care items, colored pens and pencils (also always in need!), and a frog 2 year planner.

You can really tell she put a lot of herself in planning this for me, especially the journal. I can not tell you how big my smile was as I opened all the goodness! Thanks Delilah2!

3 Chapter Teaser

I know, I know. At the Laurell K. Hamilton site there is a link to the first three chapters of her new book, DANSE MACABRE. I shouldn't have read it, now I've got the looooong wait until the 2006 release date. Shockers and revelations and more questions in the first 3 chapters. Don't read it if you want to wait in relative peace. So now, last night, I dug out NARCISSUS IN CHAINS and re-read parts of that. Tonight I will probably start on CERULEAN SINS and INCUBUS DREAMS. I'm in total Anita mode right now. And when I start re-reading books, then I usually move on to other favorites. Anne Bishop is a good one, but I had re-read her Black Jewel books only about 4 months ago. Mary Janice Davidson is also good, but I re-read her just last month (shorter books too). I was in the middle of re-reading Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark-Hunter books when LKH put up the first three chapters of DM.

C'mon someone! Put out a good NEW book!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyone with any suggestions would be highly appreciated ......

I have NOT been watching much televison lately. And don't even get me started on the INXS show. No desire to watch that band without Michael (and if you think my feelings on this are strong you should talk with my friend Mary. HOWEVER, I did turn on the t.v. the other night as I got home and was changing. That show was on and I didn't know what it was. There was this blonde guy singing the Brittany Spear's song "Hit Me Baby One More Time". And I thought to myself "how weird". Then I thought how freaking weird it was that he made it sound friggin' fabulous. He shredded the song. Shredded. And it was so very, very good. Don't know who he is, and no, I did not watch the rest of the show. But just on a side note to that strange fellow, you got game.

ON THE NEEDLES: My last baby blanket! With eight baby gifts to make for friends this past year, it has been hectic. However, I am nearly half-way through my final gift. Then I will be working on the FRENCH MARKET BAG and BRANCHING OUT from the knitty archives. These will be for me, thank you very much!

Gotta run y'all!
God Bless

RAK

I've been RAK'ed!!!!! OOooooo!

Just for those not in the know RAK = Random Act of Kindness

Space Cowboy sent me a postcard from Germany. It was way cool and completely unexpected. I haven't sent or received any RAK's for a while. I've been busy with Secret Pal (4) and getting ready for SP 5. Now I feel the need to RAK someone else. Just who will it be???? Not a clue as of yet. Will have to peruse some more and find out.

Have a great day!

Evacuation

Well, never thought it would happen ... but at the Rehab center where I work we actually had an internal disaster. One of those things you have plans and drills for, but never actually have to do anything.

On Friday morning at 3 a.m., the air conditioning went out. In 95+ temps in a rehab facility with patients on oxygen, with Lupus, and M.S., and other various conditions. NOT A GOOD THING. By the afternoon, we were all miserable and word was the parts would not be there for five days at least. Decisions were made and all 20 patients, all their belongings, all rehab equipment we would need, were evacuated to the main hospital. Horrors of horrors, nightmare scenario? Nope. It was done in about 1.5 hours. All the departments pitched in, everything went smoothly. No patient's were upset or distressed. Amazing. Radiology and Cath Lab people were trekking over to help out. Everyone was working together and well. How very wild. There's something to be said for planning how to deal with disasters, it really, REALLY works.

Even better news? It was all fixed by Sunday and on Monday we reversed the evacuation and it went even quicker.

Thanks to all who pitched in!

Oatmeal

As I sit here and complain because I'm eating oatmeal instead of fruit loops, I've been reading the news. I knew about food shoratges in Africa, but the pictures of the hungry children in Niger has just floored me. I will be sending a donation to a RELIABLE (please make sure you know who you are giving to and how monies are distributed) relief agency.

Also, last night, I watched a really good movie. I highly recommend RABBIT PROOF FENCE, a true story from Australia.

I'm still not fond of oatmeal. Supposedly it's good for me.

God Bless
